Kutchi Weaving Saree

Bhujodi is a small town in Kutch region where weavers have perfected expertise in converting the motifs and weaving techniques of shawls into beautiful sarees and dupattas. It is also known as Kutchi Weaving, which is mostly practiced by Kachchhi weavers traditionally. They come from the Marwada community. The thinnest thread used for weaving is approximately 2.80. It takes 8 to10 days to weave a saree in which 11,000 threads are joint. On handloom, the process of weaving fabrics is done completely manually without the use of electric power. The process requires a harmony of motion and rhythm on the part of the weaver to create a unique product. This product provides rural employment and involves ethical practices.
